The SRAB 99D amalgam separator is used in dental practices for the legally required
retention of amalgam from wastewater. It must achieve a minimum separation efficiency of
95% and be certified according to DIN EN ISO 11143.
Its function is based on the sedimentation principle, where wastewater from the treatment
unit and the spittoon is combined, and the amalgam is separated by gravity. The separator
also serves as a collection container, from which the purified wastewater drains away.
It is important to note that non-water-soluble prophylaxis powder must not be introduced to
prevent blockages.
