The issues surrounding COVID-19 have led to new research into the danger of aerosols. Viruses, such as COVID-19, are shed through the mouth and can be spread through aerosols. Research has shown that aerosols remain in the air for as long as 1.5 hours, with the result that several people can become infected. This means that both practice staff and patients pose a health risk during treatment.
Recent research by ACTA has shown that the risk of infection is greatest within 80 cm around the patient’s head.
